Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Do Bangladeshi citizens need a visa for Sri Lanka? Yes. You must apply for an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) online before you travel. It is a simple process, and once approved, you will receive an email confirmation to show at immigration.
What are the “SAARC Citizen” benefits mentioned? As a Bangladeshi traveler, you qualify for discounted entrance fees at major UNESCO sites (like Sigiriya and Dambulla) compared to non-SAARC foreigners.
Note: Always keep your original passport with you when visiting these sites to prove your SAARC citizenship and claim the discount.
Why is there a surcharge from December 15th to January 15th? This is the “Peak Peak” season in Sri Lanka. Travelers from all over the world arrive for the winter holidays, causing hotels to reach full capacity. Booking outside these specific dates helps you get the standard package rate.
What is the weather like from November to March? This is the best time to visit the South and West coasts (Bentota and Colombo).
- November: The end of the monsoon; expect lush green landscapes and occasional refreshing showers.
- December – March: Mostly sunny, dry, and perfect for the beach and safaris.
What should I wear for the Yala Safari? Wear lightweight, neutral-colored clothing (khaki, green, or grey) to blend in with the environment. Bring sunglasses, a hat, and a scarf to protect against the dust.
Is there a dress code for the temples? Yes. When visiting the Dambulla Cave Temple or Gangaramaya Temple, you must cover your shoulders and knees. It is a good idea to carry a light sarong or shawl in your bag. You will also need to remove your shoes before entering sacred areas.
What is the “Traditional Village Safari”? This is an immersive experience in Sigiriya where you can ride a bullock cart, take a catamaran boat ride on a lake, and see how traditional Sri Lankan food is prepared in a village kitchen.
Is the food spicy like in Bangladesh? Sri Lankan cuisine is famous for its spice and flavor! You will find many similarities to Bengali food, especially the use of coconut, fish, and rice. Most hotels in our package offer a variety of international and local dishes for breakfast.
How much extra should I budget for entrance fees? For SAARC citizens, the total entrance fees for the main sites (Sigiriya, Dambulla, Yala, Madu River, etc.) usually range between USD 75 and USD 110 per person, depending on which optional sites you choose to enter.
Can I customize this itinerary? Absolutely. While this 5-day plan is our most popular “Best of Sri Lanka” route, we can adjust the hotels or add extra days in the Hill Country (like Nuwara Eliya) if you wish.
Will there be a guide with us? Yes, you will have a professional English-speaking chauffeur-guide in a private AC vehicle. They are experts on the roads and history of the island and will stay with your group throughout the journey.
How do I handle currency? The local currency is the Sri Lankan Rupee (LKR). We recommend carrying USD to exchange at the airport or using an international credit/debit card at ATMs in Colombo and Bentota.
